Update Project Start Date
Issue Summary
- Description: Is there a way to update a Project's Start Date? Neither the customer nor I can find a field at the Project level named "Start Date."
- Business Impact: Prevents them from creating tasks that happened before the Project began.
Environment Details

Reproduction Steps
- Navigate to the Projects & Tasks section of the Planning module
- Click Add > Add Project
- Give the project a name and a due date then save - notice there is not a field called Start Date
- Click on the Tasks tab of the project and click Add
- Give the task a name and set a start date and due date to a date prior to today then save
- The task saves for me but not for the client
Verification
- Reproduced on: Customer site & Support site
- Notes: I was able to reproduce not finding a field called "Start Date" at the Project level, but I was not able to recreate the inability to backdate tasks
Behavior Description
- Actual Outcome: There is no Start Date field at the Project level
- Expected Outcome: Unsure - I would think there would be a Start Date field for a Project, but maybe not? Maybe that's based on the start date of the earliest task?

Hey. No, Projects inherit start date from their tasks. Only tasks and sub-tasks can have start and end dates - all the others are calculated by the system. Its always been this way - hope this helps.
Regarding the tasks being back-dated - that is totally possible. In fact, now you have project/task shifting as well from Gantt chart so this should not be a blocker. Please ask the user to try again or record their screen while trying, since we cant recreate this.
Also, in the above post, you mentioned that you could get the task to save with a date prior to today's. However, you have also said :

So i am assuming the former is accurate and the latter was a miss. This bug should not be happening. I tried on my system too and i can get the date to save. Please assist the customer accordingly. Thank you!
