Minimum Character Requirement for First and Last Names
Client

Summary
During implementation, we identified a system constraint that enforces a 3-character minimum for both first and last names during user creation. This limitation creates friction for legitimate users with short names.
Issue Description
It seems the system currently requires a minimum of three characters for both first and last name fields when creating a user account. As a result, users with valid 1–2 character names (e.g., AJ, Li, Wu) cannot be created using their real names.
Business Impact
- Prevents accurate representation of legitimate users in the system
- Creates onboarding friction and additional configuration overhead
- Forces clients to adopt non-ideal naming conventions that may conflict with internal policies or auditing expectations
- Presents a scalability concern as this issue would impact real users beyond shared or role-based accounts
Requested Enhancement
Remove or reduce the minimum character requirement for first and last names to allow valid 1–2 character entries. This would better support real-world naming conventions and reduce unnecessary friction during user setup.

Priority / Urgency
Medium — not a current blocker, but a clear usability and scalability concern that could impact future implementations and user adoption.
Additional Notes
Client was understanding during implementation, but proactively raised this as something that could become problematic in broader usage scenarios.

Thanks, Megan. Noted. we will try and slot it in the upcoming sprints - and i will make a note to keep you informed.
-
Vernica Lodha I received a ticket with this issue as well - can you provide the Jira for this so I can link my ticket?
Thank you!
