Update Order Department on Closed Orders

SourceOne would like to start using the Access Privilege for Allow Access to Orders by Department. So that it is a complete solution, they will start using Order Department, but they will also need to update the Order Department on closed Service Orders. Is there a way to do this out-of-the-box? Or do we need TS to write a SQL statement OR possibly a Post script using the API?

To be clear, do they need to update the order department on closed service orders before it closes, or Have a closed service order, and then edit the order department? Because I think there are rules on editing a closed service order.

This would be a one-time closure of all closed service orders. On new orders, they will be assigning the department at the time of order creation.

Katie, a similar post came in on this. I confirmed its not possible to update closed/cancelled service orders.
