Tagging Vernica Lodha for this question

I also want to note that we found that having note text in a grid has BIG impact on performance and is not advised.

Hi Minka Verkaar . these are not new changes. Those are still in development and will be pushed only with the 26.3 release. I am unaware of this particular Notes behavior- i will find out from the team in a few days and write back here.

As for dismissing item - that functionality is not available. We want to add time precision to “Changed On” field so that you can track pointed changes but beyond that, i am not sure this is on the roadmap.

Noted on Performance. We have not done any work on Notes fields this quarter and this is work from before so i cannot comment on it yet.

Hi Seth Halvaksz and Vernica Lodha

Thanks for the quick reply. Regarding the Note Text Field a few things I would like to highlight and share as business cases:

    - Item Notes are used extensively for a wide variety of reasons and are essential to daily operations. They are used for operational services to share additional delivery information or to record dietary requirements. These notes can contain a large amount of text, as there is no character limit on an Item Note. Maybe we don't need the actual Note text displayed in the grid itself, but at least an option to click on it and read the full content would be a must-have in my opinion.

    - Currently, the Customized Change Log does capture changes in Notes. If we were to move these customers from the customized version to the Change Tracking within Enterprise, this would be a step backwards for them.

    - The same applies to dismissing items — this is possible in the current (Customized) Change Log. You can imagine that for a large convention centre on busy days, the list of changes can easily grow to 100–200 items. When this list is displayed on the dashboard, users have to open it in full every time and remember when they last reviewed it. If users were able to remove, mark, or filter items as read (not necessarily a full delete), this would bring significant efficiency gains.

AGreed on these, Minka. Could you please add them to Pendo - 1st 2 can be combined into 1 and the last one is a separate feedback.
A lot of Change tracking updates are going out with 26.3 but unfortunately neither anything related to notes, nor dismissal.
I do have a “conditional” story to allow Change Tracking to be viewed not only by date but also time factor (Changed On field will allow you to choose 5th Aug 4 PM onwards) which could be a potential solution to your third feedback point. Do tell if that solves the problem in the interim?

    Yes, please see below:

    Dismiss Items

Yes, the Changed On field will be a workaround. But they will always have to remember when the last time was that they checked the information. On a busy day or week, when you have to check the list multiple times, it requires additional attention.

Hi Vernica Lodha just to be alligned what I can communicate to Jaarbeurs around these topics:

    - Note & Note Text Fields are not functional up to and including 26.3. This might change in 26.4 or later, but nothing is confirmed yet.

    - Dismiss Items are not on the roadmap right now > enhancement request submitted. The workaround will be to use the Change On Field.

    Is this correct?

  • Vernica Lodha

Hey Minka Verkaar Yes that is accurate. Both the items are not on the roadmap right now but we continue to evaluate how to make Change Tracking work for all our customers and will definitely try and see what we could do about these 2 enhancement requests. Thanks!
