Full Day Packages - Catering
We are implementing Catering at Google's London offices. They've provided a menu that contains Full Day Packages. Below is a screenshot. It contains items for breakfast, items for mid-morning break, items for lunch, and items for mid-afternoon break. We agree that best practice is to ensure a work order is created for the appropriate times each set of items should be delivered. Can we have these package items split out to different functions after it's been ordered?
I seem to remember this coming up for EMEA users. Does this ring a bell with anyone? How would you implement these Full Day Packages?

At one point we added the ability to not require functions at the service order level, and you could instead choose to assign functions at an item level. I'm thinking that enhancement might have been related to the use case you're describing…maybe?

There is the ability to split a service order and move the new service order to the correct function. 2 steps. Interested to see if there are other best practices.

Hey Anthony Costantino I think this process could be set up more efficiently than the options we currently have. I’m familiar with the following approaches:
- Jaarbeurs uses a package that only contains the allocations and books all items in separate orders, linked to the correct function. For example: Function Line Welcome = coffee/tea/cookies, Function Line Break = coffee/tea/fruit, Function Line Lunch = sandwiches, etc. The risk with this option is that the unit of the package is not linked to the number of items included—this requires manual review. However, I believe they handle this with “Sync to Ordered” or “Sync to Event Attendance.” The advantage is that you only need to update the Function Lines when there is a time change, and they work extensively with Event Templates where the packages are already preconfigured. Regarding this option, there is also the possibility to split the package across different Function Lines—the item Joel Nisbett is referring to. However, the number of clicks required for that action is not proportional to the benefit it provides. Maybe for one big event yes, but when you talk about DDR Packages in a Meeting Centre with high volume and short lead times, it is not user friendly. In addition, this is an organization-level parameter, which means that Service Orders for other types of events would no longer necessarily need to be linked to a Function. This introduces additional drawbacks, especially for departments that do not work with packages and for them the Function should remain mandatory to prevent errors.
- MEMOX has set up full packages that are linked to a single Function Line (e.g., Function Line Meeting), and they manually adjust the start and end times of the items in the Service Order. The advantage here is that units are linked to the package. The downside is that the start and end times are more “hidden” at the Service Order level instead of the Function level and as a result you lose the benefit of having the Function Schedule serve as the main source of your Event.
