Transitioning from Inventory Transactions to Manual Balance updates

Nike Events is revising their processes and has new clarity around their equipment inventory business requirements. They do not (and never did) have a need to track or valuate inventory value or balances. Therefore, in keeping with our goal to simplify their workflows, we want to move them off of updating inventory balances via transactions and onto direct balance updates (activating parameter IN 240) as with Basic Inventory.
Enterprise prevents us from activating the parameter while inventory transactions exist. Could you guide us on a path forward that involves removing the inventory transactions so we can transition to basic inventory balance updates?

I have not worked with this sort of scenario and imagine it would take wiping the items of their transactions, or creating new items to start from scratch and avoid the block. Ryan Ungerboeck, have you worked with a situation like this before?

This does require scripts as we remove some data and want to make sure users don't do this without understanding / talking through the implications (no physical counts, how to update inventory balances going forward, no impact on balances from any inventory transaction)
