What’s the problem?
- When labor items are added, and they are using dates/times via mass editor, users must manually recalculate time quantities.
- When these same items are edited ad hoc, they auto calculate as expected.
- They sent in a ticket about this and were told to update via the recalculate button, however this is not the behavior they remember. They claim this behavior changed after a recent update to the software. Ticket 371586

Is the issue reproducible?
- Yes
-
If reproducible, where?
- Demo
- Demo/Staging/Pitstop Account -account-815-A
- Demo/Staging/Pitstop Event ID- 815-65-65-4066
-
Steps to reproduce the issue-
- Go into staffing function in event detailing page
- Go into edit AV Tech and Engineer labor items
- See quantity is 1 at 6 hours. Enter a start date and end date, and a start time and end time.
- See the hours change.
- Use Recalculate time quantity and that sets it back as expected.
- Now go into the item for AV Tech.
- Update the dates and times.
- Notice how the hours calculate as expected without using the recalculate button.
-
Expected behavior
- Per this article, it seems like this may be expected behavior but I would expect the same behavior regardless of where I edit the items.

Troubleshooting steps already taken
- Additional training and testing in demo. The team brought this up at Illuminate and again in a ticket with Support. It's now come up in our SD calls so I want to ensure we are communicating the information correctly and take proper next steps. (ie would this be an enhancement or did the behavior change?)
-
Workaround identified?
- They have remember to manually recalculate, but there is manual error possible. In fact they said this caused widespread staffing issues a few months back.

Amber Lough This is the expected behavior and is not something we've changed recently with an update. My understanding was that the design was for this to be a manual choice for users to make, so they don't have time-specific items arriving at incorrect times because they were automatically changed with an update to a function time. We want them to make a conscious decision about the times of those time-specific items.
Items can be booked outside of a function's time, but are still required to be attached to a function. Therefore, we wouldn't want to have a security guard arrive late/ disembark early because the item automatically updated when the function time got changed.Tagging Elizabeth Fox for thoughts about this with the mass editors future with new UI.

Hey Kristi Miles and Amber Lough , I took a look through our last few releases and can confirm that we have not made changes to this. It's also worth noting that the old mass editor will be going away at some point in the future when we sunset the old UI, so we are unlikely to make any enhancement here.
