indicator with two variable
Customer asks for guidance on how to structure
indicators for emissions calculations in cases where Climatiq requires two variables combined (not just one).
- For freight, Climatiq expects inputs in tonne-kilometres (weight × distance).
- For flights, it expects passenger-kilometres (number of passengers × distance).
-
NB: neither of these are km/hr
Climatiq doesn’t provide factors based on distance alone in these cases, so we can’t just load “kms travelled” as an indicator. We need your advice on how best to capture and store these compound units in the system.
From screenshot below we cannot configure it the way customer expects

Hi Pushkar Barve
Customers can use these types of indicators, which we refer to as Compound Unit Type indicators (requiring two unit types) by going to the suggested indicators library. It is not possible to add them through the normal add indicator flow because of the complexity of logic required. For example, if I want to add an indicator measuring the volume of air freight our organisation has produced, I can use this indicator from the Impact Library:

I then need to select my units - in this case I will be measuring it by the number of tonnes carried by air, measured by the number of miles travelled:
This then creates the indicator:

I can then add the two metrics when updating the indicator:

Which will calculate the appropriate CO2e amount through the Climatiq API:

Let me know if you hava any further questions.

Good Morning @... ,
Thank you for detailed answer on this however this is at event level - not at hub level.
Is there a way to add these at hub level?
As per client ’This indicator is inactive. No further updates can be added' refer below screenshot.

Hey @... ,
Hope you are doing well. Can you please help out to configure as per our last question ?
