I tested this on 30.99 and 24.4 and can confirm that the behaviour is the same where a newly added profile with service orders will have the service order items show in the service order item window when filter is set to start date next 30 days. When the event hyperlink is clicked on in the service order item from the event profile, the window that opens is the edit event window instead of the edit event profile window.

Because of this, I would expect all the service orders for the event/event profile to be cancelled. However, the event profile isn't removed - the question is whether it should be treated where cancel event = remove event.

I am leaning towards this being more of a product suggestion as this has been the way system has been behaving since 30.99 (as far as my testing goes with AVMC UAT environment).

Hi Nicole Loh , thank you for confirming the behaviour across versions 30.99 and 24.4.

Seth Halvaksz , could you please take a look and confirm whether this should be classified as a bug , product enhancement request or working as expected?

Just want to make sure we’re handling this correctly before we update the customer.

I'm not sure i understand the question.

Is the question if cancelling an event also cancels all service order items?

  • Nicole Loh

Seth Halvaksz I think the question is:

    1. Should service orders of newly created event profiles show in service orders window? (I feel like this will confuse reporting and requirements for the week - over ordering of items)

    2. If YES to number 1, shouldn't the event hyperlink on the service orders point to the edit event profile window instead of edit event window? At the moment it opens the edit event window instead of the event profile itself, which  contains all the mandatory fields which are not required when adding an event profile. This causes confusion and users cancel this event thinking it was created in error - when really it's the event profile and they are cancelling all the associate orders to the event profile.
If NO to number 1, this question is no longer relevant as this won't even be a problem.

Ok - i see the original scenario is: “When editing a service order item within an event profile, the item unexpectedly appears in the staff scheduling report”

Carissa Harrison can you comment on how event profiles are expected to work?

I'm asking Mike Schepker if he can review and give his thoughts on this.

I lean toward this being an enhancement, per Nicole's comment:

“I am leaning towards this being more of a product suggestion as this has been the way system has been behaving since 30.99 (as far as my testing goes with AVMC UAT environment). ”

I don't know what the proper solution is, but I think there is still a minor bug here with Service Order Items showing items from Profiles, which is opening an incorrect Event window. It doesn't look like we show profile service orders from the main Service Orders window, but we do show profile service order items from the Service Order Items window. When you click on the Event hyperlink on one of those profile items, it's opening the Edit Event window instead of the Edit Event Profile window.

If we're supposed to show profile service orders on the service orders and service order items window, then the software would need to be fixed to properly open up the Edit Event Profile window instead of the Edit Event window from the Service Order Items screen and Service Orders will need to be updated to not filter them out. If profile service orders aren't supposed to show on the main Service Orders and Service Order Items windows, then the Service Order Items window would need to be updated to filter those out like the main Service Orders window is already doing. There's just inconsistency on what is being displayed.

Thanks Mike for your assessment here.

I would expect that we should NOT be showing profile service orders on the Service Order Items window.

I will check with engineering, and then update this post.

  • Seth Halvaksz

Spoke with engineering, and confirmed that the Service Order Items page shouldn't be showing profile service order items.
