When booking a new event from booking calendar, the event window closes after saving a new event
Answered- Description of the issue: When booking a new event from booking calendar, the event window closes after saving a new event
- Account name: Department of Parliamentary Services
- Region: APAC
- Client version: 25.1
-
Steps to reproduce:
1. Log in to https://qe.ungerboeck.com/25_1/app85.cshtml with nicole // nicole
2. Go to the booking calendar.
3. Click to start a booking > Add an Event > Fill out all mandatory fields > Save.
4. Notice that it does not open the edit event window for users to continue working on it. It's an additional step to have to hover over the bookings to edit the event and continue working on things like functions, adding of service orders etc. - Observed results vs Expected results: We are seeing that the add event window does not lead into the edit event window when adding event from booking calendar. We are expecting this process to behave similarly to how it was in the classic UX where upon saving the new event, it opens up/ converts the window to edit event.
- What is the job the client is trying to accomplish: Client is trying to see if there is a way to reduce clicks to get back into an event. It is very cumbersome to have to edit the booking or hover over it to get to the event.
- Business impact if not resolved: Adds an extra step and creates inconvenience

Mike Schepker please review

For the public record, Missouri Botanical Garden just complained about this this morning.
-
If the behavior in classic UX was to open the Edit Event window after booking, then I think Carissa Harrison should weigh in on this.

Tagging Carissa Harrison again to review

This is explained in the FAQ article under the question: Why aren’t the save buttons consistent between drawers & pages?
We have improvements in 25.2 that the user will be able to select if they want to Save or Save & Open from drawers. https://ungerboeck.atlassian.net/browse/APP-5015
