Unique ESC Ordering Use Case
Refer to Product IdeasDescription of the issue: Due to local laws, if an alcohol item is ordered to a booth, a bartender is required to pour the drinks.
The venue has two resources currently: $150 (for 4 hours) bartender and $50 (for each additional hour) bartender
The Goal is to capture the bartender fee automatically when an alcohol order is added to their cart. Currently they are accepting orders without the bartender fee and their team has to reach out post sale to process the bartender fee separately.
What you've already tried or suggested. Why does this not work?:
Suggested upsell: This is easily bypassed in the storefront since it doesn't appear to be a requirement.
Required upsell: The requirement would add a bartender for EACH ITEM instead of the overall order.
Alcohol Packages: presents one item on the storefront
Potential thoughts:
Pre-Checkout: Creating a pre-checkout page that asks "are you purchasing alcohol" with the policy and the requirements along with an ordering option. (this may work, however it still isn't a requirement).
Volume Pricing: $150 for the first 4 hours and $50 for each additional

@... - can you assist or direct me to someone who may?
-
A few questions and comments:
1 - How are the alcohol items being sold currently? Is there an item for beer and a separate item for wine and the exhibitor selects their options?
2 - Would the number of bartenders change based on how much they have ordered or due to the size of the booth?
3 - Can they order alcohol items across days or do they need to order it for each day? I assume the bartender fee is for each day?
-
Thanks, @...!
1 - How are the alcohol items being sold currently? Is there an item for beer and a separate item for wine and the exhibitor selects their options? Items are being sold separately - their ESC site has each item separately.

2 - Would the number of bartenders change based on how much they have ordered or due to the size of the booth? I will have to verify, but I don't believe so.
3 - Can they order alcohol items across days or do they need to order it for each day? I assume the bartender fee is for each day? I believe they would be per day.

Caty Pomeroy - I have not been able to come up with a good recommendation on this one. I believe this will need to be considered as an enhancement request. This feels to me like an overall order required upsell feature. With that being said, we would want to discuss with them (and others) if this upsell actually crosses orders.
Example - Exhibitor has two orders with alcohol for the same booth and day. Do they get two bartenders or one?
Only thing I can think of that might help them today is to add a formula field at the service order level that indicates if the bartender order item is missing when required. They could group on this formula field to easily see the gaps. Doesn't solve everything as they would still need to reach out to the customer about the additional fees. Do you know if they display anything on the summary/confirmation/etc… that indicates this requirement and that it may be added after the fact?

@... - It is my understanding that the issue with the required upsell is that it would be for the item, not the whole order, which could result in multiple bartender charges rather than one per day for alcohol orders.
The recommended formula is a good idea! They are currently pulling a report, but that would provide additional visibility.
We did discuss the option of creating a pre-checkout page that asks "Are you purchasing alcohol" with the policy and the requirements along with an ordering option. (this may work, however it still isn't a requirement).
I will share your recommendations and appreciate your help!

@... - They've decided to move forward with packages however they are running into a snag.
When the Alcoholic Beverages item is selected, you have to know your total quantity before selecting the number of each item in the package. So once you get to the package selection, you receive an error message if you add more items than what was indicated on the previous screen for total items. If I were the user, I might not know my total until I work through how many of each item I want on the list of package items.
Is there a way to select one alcohol package and not restrict the number of selections?

Caty Pomeroy - Are they using Bundles?
-
@... - yes. maybe it's the configuration?
-
It might be best to have a call to look over how everything is configured, etc… Might move things along faster. Tagging @... to see if he would be the one to work with.
-
Thanks for tagging me, Caty Pomeroy! I have a few customers who also have this need but with electrical/electrician requirements. If schedules allow, please include me on the configuration call.
-
Ok, thanks! Katie Eisenbath - this is for Cobb, so I will tag you in to schedule.
