Functions: Level 1 and Level 2 usability - best practice

Hi all, 

My customer, ICC Belfast, are exploring the functions capability in Enterprise. They had a question on the Level 1 and Level 2 usability and scripting below: 

We are reviewing our process of using functions. Currently we script an event which has multiple spaces across multiple days with a space as level 1 (and this function is across the full event date range), and then each day as level 2 within this. 

This allows us to add any equipment which is used in that spaces across all event days to that level 1 function. 

We are looking at scripting in a process that is level 1 the day, and then each space as it’s idented level. Following a usual event programme model. However, we are not sure how we can than create a service order, which is for one space across all event days. As if we allocate this order to a function, it would only be on one day.

  Hi Ella Fancett what I usually advise my customers to do the following: 

  > Create one line (see 1 in screenshot) called 'All Event Services'. Here you can link all Service Orders that are applicable across all days but are not related to a specific space. For example, electricity and water consumption, First Aid Staff, or Security — which are usually calculated at event level and not specified per space.

  > You can duplicate this line and rename it for a specific space when needed (you can create as many as required). Here you can link all Service Orders that are applicable across all days, but only for a specific space — for example if the above services are charged per space.

  > You can create a second line (see 2 in screenshot) called 'All Day Services'. Here you can link all Service Orders that are applicable for that day only, but not related to a specific space. For example Cleaning Staff, Traffic Marshals, etc.

  For any other Service Orders, you can link them at Level 2 (Space, usually for the whole period) or Level 3 (Space, usually for specific times within the period defined at Level 2).

  I will also send you the template I use in my trainings to explain how you can get the most out of your functions.
