customer unable to use SendGrid

Austin Convention Center is subject to the City of Austin's security and IT policies that prohibit:
- Use of SendGrid as a relay for their domain, and
- Authorizing any third party to "do business as" (DBA) their domain for email sending
Are there any other options that could aid with their emails sent via Momentus to not be flagged as spam?

They could use a subdomain or we could point to their own relay server.

Adding to what Mike said. University of Calgary just did this.
They would need to set up a shared email address that has a no-reply address with the subdomain set up in SendGrid. Users would need to use that shared email address when sending email.
Then each user would also need to set their reply-to address in user settings. So when someone replies to the email, it is sent to their email address.

Here is the follow up question they sent me regarding their email possibilities:
"We can use a subdomain (@accd.austintexas.gov). To make sure I understand correctly.... If we have a no-reply email of AustinConvention@accd.austintexas.gov set up in SendGrid, ALL emails from Momentus will appear to come from that address. BUT, if an outside client tries to reply to one of those @accd.austintexas.gov emails, their email will go to the reply-to address of whoever the logged in user was that sent the original email. Do I have that right?"

That is correct.
One other thing to add is that the user can customize their “From Name”.
So when someone receives the email, the FROM would look something like this (which depends on the email client they are using):
REPLY-TO: Jillian.Strangret@accd.austintexas.gov
FROM: “Jillian Strangret” AustinConvention@accd.austintexas.gov

One last batch of questions from ACC:
“Do I need a new DKIM value for the DNS record if we're using @accd.austintexas.gov?”
“The reply-to should be their real email address (jessica.weatherwax@austintexas.gov), it should not include the subdomain separator (accd), correct?”
“Where would I configure the from name? I found reply-to in the user account easily, but not a from name. I'd like to set as much of this up for our users as possible.”

Mike Schepker can you help with the first question (if a new DKIM value is needed)?
Jillian - yes the reply-to address should be their real address. Usually the subdomain will not an active mailbox.
You'll configure the default from name in Shared Email Addresses.
Then when a user selects that address for the first time when sending an email, they will need to change it in the window. We have a ticket in progress to save the selected email address and the from name, so the next time they send an email its remembered. An Admin wouldn't be able to set this up ahead-of-time, unless they log in to each users account and send an email address from their account.

Jillian Stangret Yes, if we set their subdomain up in SendGrid, they will have DNS records that they will need to add for the subdomain.
