CRM Relationship Mapping
A long time ago, in a version far far away (iEBMS), we had a section for relationship mapping.
This section provided a table with unique records for all CRM relationships. Somewhere along the road (I think V20) this section disappeared! We had been plans to rebuild it, however this never came to fruition.
Vancouver Convention Center reached out to ask if there is another way we can map these relationships clearly. The current process is very limited.
1. To see Organization > Contacts relationships, drill into the organization account and look at the contacts section.
2. To see Organization > Organization relationships, drill into the organization and look at the Organizations section.
3. To see Contact > Organization relationships, drill into the contact and look at the Organizations tab.
4. To see Contact > Contact relationships, drill into the contact and look at the Contacts tab.
With the process above, it is near impossible to perform a holistic review of all CRM relationships.
- Has anyone else run into this challenge with relationship mapping?
- Are there any known workarounds?
The Relationships section was vital for maintaining a clean CRM. For PavCo, we are scoping a crystal report.

I don't have answers to your questions Martin, hopefully another consultant can weigh in (you may want to tag some specific people on this post).
I did ask engineering for any background, and its consistent with what you're saying:
"Back in the v19 days, and I think even initially in v20, we had one "Relationships" tab on the account, and you could use this to view both the parent and child relationships with the account. Usually parent Organizations and then child contacts, bill-to contacts, etc."
I'm pretty sure with the influx of new customers into v20 we kept getting feedback that it was too confusing and they weren't always sure who was a parent vs a child, etc.
So then we tried to simplify things into Organizations and Contacts. They got rid of the Relationships tab and split it into Organizations and Contacts like he's mentioning."
