Functioning Scripting to include Function Usage
AnsweredHi team,
Is it possible to have the function usage automatically assigned to a function when a user performs function scripting? Currently, when a user performs function scripting, the ‘usage’ column comes up blank (it will only let you select booking usages but not function usages) and so specific departments may miss some information as the usage isn't on their view because of this.
As the ‘usage; column comes up blank, my contact has to manually select the correct usage for the specific function each morning to ensure all necessary departments are informed. Is there an explanation or work around for this case? What's the best practice?
user performs function scripting but usage column is blank (below)

User needs to manually select usage type from list

Ella Fancett - If I'm understanding right, you can accomplish this by going to the Event Management Configuration window > Defaults tab > Automatic Function Creation section, then entered the Usage Code value in the Function Usage column. If they enter “HED” then when they script one function per day, the resulting functions will automatically have the usage of Day Section (HED).

Thanks Joel.
Can you confirm if this is referenced in an article? We try to identify gaps in support articles, so that Linda can add to her list to update.
Ella,
In the future could you confirm that you searched support articles first, and include the articles you referenced, please? We want to make sure everyone searches the knowledge base first.

Thanks, Joel Nisbett this is helpful tip! I will share with my client.
Seth Halvaksz , I usually spend some time to search if I can find the answer in knowledge base as well as any material on SharePoint but unfortunately, I'm not able to find details relating to answering the client's query.
I've had a look at the following KB articles relating to function scripting and usages:
Function Scripting – Momentus Support Center
The above article mentions booking usages (under script functions section) but not function usages or the possibility of automating the function usage once a user actions function scripting
Other KB articles I've reviewed are:
Configure Function Usages – Momentus Support Center
Configure Booking Usages – Momentus Support Center -
I've put this on my list to add to the Function Scripting article!
And listing articles where you've looked, even if you don't find answers, helps me know where people are going for answers and helps me put information in a place that's logical for users.

Circling back to this post as my customer has tested the code ‘HED’ provided for their use case and it's exactly what the customer was looking for. This has saved the admin time doing daily work to check on function usages not filled out when users perform function scripting.
@... It'd be great to include these codes in an article on support centre!

Ella Fancett Sure thing! I'll just need some help from you or Joel Nisbett - I'm too new to Enterprise to fully understand the context, and I'll need to add the whole Automatic Function Creation section to the Event Management Configuration article, and then reference that on the Function Scripting article.
I was able to use function scripting to apply the correct usage code to a function - it was the EMF02 Function Type - Event. Are there other ways to automatically create Move In, Move Out, and Dark functions where those settings are used?

Hi @...
Thanks for follow up! Unfortunately, I not sure on the correct usage code to a function so I will need to lean on Joel Nisbett expertise on the information required here. Joel, would you have any additional information Linda can include in the function scripting articles? Thanks!
