API - Extract Journal Entry Details using PostedDate Endpoint
Refer to Product Ideas- Account name - Tataki Auckland Unlimited
- Region - APAC
- Client version (Enterprise) - 24.32024110401
- Description of the issue
- What does the client want to do? Why do they want to do this?
- Customer would like to extract Journal Entry Details information for external systems and reporting using “PostedDate” endpoint. It would help to reduce the number of calls and rules needed to be put in place externally if “Posted Date” was available at a transactional/journal entry details level.
- What does the client want to do? Why do they want to do this?
- What you've already tried or suggested. Why does this not work?
- Suggested to use Journal Entry endpoint which customer is already using.
- Discussed the use case with Technical Services if custom development is an option.
- Business impact if not resolved - Manual work may be involved which may be error prone and not efficient use of API

Journal Entries Model - This endpoint has “Posted Date” field available which helps extracting Journal Information

-
Journal Entries Details Model - This endpoint does not have “Posted Date” field available which may help to extract the information to reduce API Calls.

- Links to articles where you've looked for solutions and also other steps you've taken to research the issue. - Discussed with Technical team if a custom solution can be developed to which they have addressed it'd likely be a product enhancement and may be accomplished sooner with launch of APIv3, so would like to get thoughts or feedback if this was on roadmap.

I see PostedDate in the JournalEntries endpoint, but not the JournalEntryDetails endpoint.
Sounds like an enhancement request to update JournalEntryDetails to support PostedDate.
I'm not clear why JournalEntries endpoint is not meeting their needs.
Asking Ryan Ungerboeck to weigh in

They are trying to reduce the number of calls by getting all the journal entry details for all journal entries posted in a certain time frame. Currently they can get all journal entry headers posted in a time frame and then go get the details for each of those journals individually.
It makes a lot of sense to be able to do this to me. I'm not sure if we've done something to get all order items by criteria in the order header - but conceptually this is the same and I agree a very reasonable enhancement request. I'd probably ask the API experts to weigh in if there's is something naturally occurring in the v2 API -
Thanks Ryan Ungerboeck
Himanshu can you add an enhancement request in Pendo
-
