Introduction
The Elite data conversion system is designed to be as "frictionless" possible as we move a client from another system into Elite. Since there are a lot of moving parts during the conversion process, we need to have a way of doing one or more preliminary conversions -- used to review the integrity of the data and also for training -- before we do the final conversion.
Important: If a customer is planning a conversion, never start by setting up a blank tenant. You should always collect the data to be converted; do an initial sandbox; and then begin making setup changes to the tenant.
Slugs
In order to keep everything connected, each client is assigned a slug at the beginning of the process. The same slug should be used for the client during the entire process.
Saved State
Clients typically need a lot of adjustments done to their tenant setup before the final conversion and launch, so we provide a save state feature to carry along things like users, permissions, venues, rooms, reports, inventory library, price schedules, and so on.
IMPORTANT! When using saved state, only rename things (rooms, event types, etc.) in one place. If you rename them in Elite and change them in the spreadsheet data, for example, that will result in duplicates.
Going Live
You can take a client 'live" by doing a Snapshot export/import from sandbox into the production cluster.
Important: During major releases, there will be times when you cannot copy tenants between clusters. The AP and EU clusters are often upgraded before Sandbox, for example. During this period of time, you will be unable to copy tenants from Sandbox into AP or EU.
Watch the Momentus Elite > Announcements channel in Teams to see when the various clusters will be upgraded.
Overall Process
The typical process is to do an initial import; configure the tenant; save the state, and then eventually do the final import with final, up-to-the-minute data.
