Overview
This tool works using a two-step process:
- Exporting a snapshot of an Elite account (tenant)
- Importing that snapshot into a new account on the same cluster or a different one
It can be used for multiple use cases, including:
- Making a duplicate of a Demo account
- Moving an account from the North America cluster to the Asia-Pacific cluster
- Copying a production account into INDV for integration dev/test
- Copying a production account into Sandbox for training
This is a complex tool, so be careful when using it. It is also important to run all steps on the same version of Elite -- snapshots are not compatible across releases. The tool checks all version numbers and will return an error if a version does not match.
Export
First, in the Support app, go to the Accounts page for the source tenant and click on the Tenant Utilities icon.
On the Tenant Utilities slider, click on the Export icon
Make sure Snapshot is selected
You can optionally choose to not include the documents as part of the Snapshot. This will generally take less time, and might be appropriate for some cases -- like a quick training session on Sandbox that doesn't involve documents.
Ready? Click the Export button.
A green message indicates that the export was successfully started, but it may take a few minutes to finish. The SnapshotId appears on the page, and you can click to copy it to the clipboard.
You can follow the progress of the export on the Support Tool Logs page.
Import
Importing always starts with a snapshot that has completed successfully, and you will need to know the SnapshotId.
Start by creating an empty account (tenant) in the Support app; then click the Tenant Utilities icon.
On the Tenant Utilities slider, click the Import icon.
Make sure the Snapshot option is selected; and paste in the SnapshotId that you want to import.
You can optionally skip importing the documents.
Ready? Click the Import button.
You should see a green message appear, indicating that the import process has started successfully.
You can follow the progress of the import on the Support Tool Logs page.
